A businessman and his wife were among four persons who appeared in the First District Court in Castries today, Friday, Dec. 6, charged for what police described as a “large quantity of cannabis”.
According to police, on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, a joint operation by the Drug Unit of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force and other law enforcement agencies was conducted at the premises of 45-year-old Brian Cornibert of Sunny Acres, Castries.
“During the operation, a large quantity of cannabis was recovered. Cornibert, was subsequently arrested along with his wife, 39-year-old Nigel Sandra Mole of Sunny Acres, Castries; 30-year-old Denver Melville of Bois d’ Orange, Gros Islet and 27-year-old Dave Ephraim of Bonneterre, Gros Islet,” police said in a press release.
All four persons appeared in court today, charged for the offences of possession of a controlled drug and possession with the intent to supply a controlled drug.
They were each granted bail in the sum of $20,000 cash, suitable surety or land documents, and were also bailed with conditions, including surrendering of travel documents and weekly reports to police stations.
They are expected to make another court appearance on January 17, 2014.
