The cause of death will be determined soon for the Canadian man who met his demise while hiking the Gros Piton on Saturday. A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place today.
Christopher Diachuk, 61, a Canadian visitor collapsed while hiking the Gros Piton and never regained consciousness. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Diachuk, occupied a yacht which was anchored in the Soufriere Bay, but he apparently used an unauthorized tour to the Gros Piton trail where he passed away.
The Soufriere Regional Development Foundation (SRDF), which is the official agency responsible for these tours, has warned persons not to take the unofficial route for the trail.
The SRDF has also admitted that an uncertified groups have been conducting tours to the area as well.
