A man who was shot by police during an operation in New Village, Castries around midday today, Feb. 5, was wanted for attempted murder and robbery.
Police confirmed that 25-year-old Lawrence Jermaine Joseph, aka Problems, of Bois Patat, Castries sustained a gunshot wound to the leg area. The operation was being conducted by officers of the Criminal Investigations Department.
He is currently in stable condition at Victoria Hospital.
A firearm was also recovered.
“A .380 pistol containing 8 rounds of ammunition was also recovered on his person. Charges are expected to be laid against him shortly. The matter is currently under investigations,” police said in a press release.
Joseph was reportedly sought by the police in connection with recent shootings in the Bois Patat/Morne Du Don area.
