Several stolen vehicles were found stripped and abandoned in Agard Land on Sunday morning. Police and local tow trucks worked for several hours to remove the vehicles.

Found were a white Daihatsu Terios (Chassis #JD2J210G001oo5743), a silver Daihatsu Terios (Chassis #JDAJ2106001040637), a white Toyota Belta/Yaris (Chassis #FCP92-1014685), and a gold Suzuki Jimny.

Most of the vehicles were stripped of engines and body parts such as doors and wheels.

According to reports, an individual was passing the area, when he saw the shell of a white vehicle and upon further investigation, he discovered that there were many other vehicle shells in the area.

He alerted the police who arrived with trucks to take away what were left of the vehicles.

There have been numerous reports of vehicles being stolen over the past several months on the island. While some persons were lucky to recover their vehicles, others never found theirs.

Some persons believe that poorly-lit and isolated parking lots are contributing factors that makes vehicle theft possible. The lack of anti-theft and security equipment in many vehicles also lend to this criminal activity.

Most important, the local market for stolen car parts encourages criminals to keep up supplies.

It is understood that the high cost and scarceness of parts make the purchase of these stolen parts appealing to private individuals and mechanics. It is a common occurrence that persons must wait several weeks before a needed part reaches the island.

Persons who believe that any of these vehicles belongs to them are asked to make contact with Sean’s Wrecker & Garage Services with the relevant documents to prove ownership of the vehicle.

They are also asked to make contact with the Criminal Investigations Department at 456-3770.

Persons who have knowledge of stolen cars or parts can also report this to the police.
