Police are on the hunt for the individual who robbed two tourists in Vigie Monday afternoon (Feb. 17).

An eyewitness told Saint Lucia News Online (SNO) that the male and female Caucasian couple were walking in the vicinity of Northwest Limited on the John Compton Highway about 3 p.m. when a young man robbed them off their bag and ran off.

Before snatching the bag, the assailant proceeded to push the female visitor into the road. He appeared to be weapon-less.

The young man fled over two fences and was chased by the male tourist who was unable to catch up with him.

Police Press Officer Aniel Innocent told SNO on Tuesday the incident was reported to the police, and they are searching for the person, whom several witnesses have identified.

“I saw at least two vehicles stopped to help but nobody could catch that boy because he was running up the hill,” an eyewitness said.

“It was so sad to see these two people just walking up the road [and get robbed like this]. I cried on the bus… Everyone on the bus was just amazed to see broad daylight like that they just robbed somebody,” the woman noted.
