Police are continuing their investigation into yesterday’s double homicide in La Clery.
According to sources, a male, believed to be the prime suspect in the killings, was picked up yesterday, but no charges have been filed pending further investigations, sources say.
According to local laws, the identity of a suspect is withheld until charged. The individual would be released without charge if there is lack of sufficient evidence.
And not all persons taken into custody are suspects.
The bodies of Sandrina Joseph and her boyfriend Jeffery ‘Shingay’ Arbella were discovered by her two children yesterday morning, according to reports from relatives and law enforcement officials.
The bodies were discovered in a bed with stab wounds. It is believed the couple were attacked while asleep at their Tamarind Heights, Active Hill residence.
Photos being circulated on social media, and obtained by St. Lucia News Online (SNO), show the woman’s body face down on the bed, half covered in a sheet, while her boyfriend’s body is face down on the floor beside the bed.
It is alleged that the couple had received death threats.
Thirteen homicides have been committd in St. Lucia since the start of 2017.
