Police officials have confirmed that a security guard stationed at one of the RG Group of Companies-owned concrete plants in Vieux Fort was robbed and beaten whilst on duty last night.
Reports are that around 10 p.m. the unarmed security guard, who was the only person at the plant, was attacked by three unmasked individuals.
They searched his wallet, found no money, but took his cell phone.
The victim, believed to be in his mid 60s, was beaten with a post and other objects. After the bandits fled, he managed to venture on the road where he got a ride to the police station.
He was transported to St. Jude Hospital with severe head injuries, but he’s in stable condition, police said.
No one has been arrested to date.
It was not immediately clear if the security guard was directly employed to the RG Group of Companies, or was employed by a security firm contracted by the RG Group.
