The mother of shooting victim Claudy Lubin, better known as ‘Simon Peter’, has said she understands that her son was set up and shot, and believes jealousy is at the root of the attack on Saturday (June 24) in the vicinity of Grass Street, Castries.
Lubin, 27, is in the Intensive Care Unit of Victoria Hospital after sustaining two gunshot wounds to the abdominal region. His condition has been listed as serious but stable, according to relatives.
No one has been arrested for the incident.
On Monday, Lubin’s mother, Cynthia Lubin, told HTS that her son received a phone call from a “young lady” inviting him to come by the road. She said when he came by the road a “call was made that he was by the road”.
She said while he was there a vehicle passed and shots were fired from it, hitting her son.
She however pointed out that she wasn’t at the location when the shooting occurred so she can’t give out too much information.
When asked about the motive behind her son’s shooting, Cynthia said some people are jealous of her son.
She went on to send a message to all the “haters” of her son.
“Stop hating and trust God,” she said.
“… all I know [is] I giving God the thanks and the glory for the great job he has done for me, and he will keep doing it because I am a child of purpose and my son is a child of purpose,” she said, adding that she gave her son a testimony from God hours before he was shot.
Cynthia said her son is protected by God.
“This is Simon Peter the preacher man and nobody can take his soul. He is Simon the preacher man,” she emphasised.
