Three young men, one with a gaping face wound, were hospitalised following a chopping incident at the Guesneau Service Station in Ti Rocher, Castries Tuesday evening.

Lance Caldron, a pump attendant at the service station, sustained  a wound to his face and was scheduled to undergo surgery.

The two other males sustained lacerations.

An eyewitness told St. Lucia News Online in an exclusive interview that sometime between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., a young male arrived at the station and allegedly began to “disrespect” a female employee of the gas station.

“He’s just like that, troublesome. His tongue just dirty. He always troubles the female employee,” the source alleged.

It was at this time that Caldron allegedly intervened.

“Lance (Caldron) told him to ‘take it easy, stop cursing and disrespecting the lady’ because the fella had threatened to burn her house,” the source said.

Caldron’s response didn’t turn out too well. Soon, both men were reportedly in each other’s face, then it became physical.

“It was just a short tussle. Lance put the guy’s neck between his leg,” the eyewitness said.

The “tussle” was parted by the female employee of the gas station and the “troublesome fella” left the area allegedly hurling threats.

But it didn’t end there. Around 7 pm, the incident got out of control with a machete coming into play. Caldron was chopped during the incident and his brother, who reportedly came to his aid, was also injured.

The circumstances surrounding the second altercation that led to the serious injuries is not clear.

A third man was injured as well. All three were brought to hospital and treated for their injuries while Caldon was admitted for surgery.

St. Lucia News Online will provide more information as soon as it becomes available.
