(SNO) – Swift action by neighbours and the police on Friday morning (Oct. 19) led to the arrest of three young males shortly after they burglarised a residence in Plateau, Babonneau, according to the homeowner in an interview with St. Lucia News Online.

The three burglars who are all from Balata — two aged 16 and one 19 — have since been charged and remanded, the homeowner, who preferred to be anonymous, also revealed.

The man said he was at work when he received a call from neighbours around 11 a.m. about noise coming from his house.

“They called me asking if I am home or whether people working at the house. I said no, then they said there is noise in the house,” he said.

The police were alerted and shortly after the three suspects were spotted by the lawmen on the road. The eldest ran away, but the other two were caught. One carried a “sack” with a flat screen television and the other carried a bag with electronics and other items.

The homeowner further told St. Lucia News Online that while giving his statement to police, the investigating officer called the third suspect and encouraged him to turn himself in. He reportedly did so about 15 minutes later.

Among the items that were recovered were two laptops, one cell pone, one flat screen television, one DVD player, a reef flip-flp, to cover jackets, and two computer speakers.

The homeowner expressed gratitude to his neighbours and the police.
