(CMC) – Police say they are investigating a possible human trafficking case after a Venezuelan teenager was rescued here over the last weekend.
The unidentified 16-year-old female, who had been resident in the neighbouring French island of Martinique, is reported to have ran to a stranger and begged for help, saying that she had been kidnapped and sexually abused.
Sources said that the young woman was partially naked and was complaining of intense pain.
“She said she was sedated by her captors and brought to St. Lucia,” the source reported.
The woman took the teenager to her home where she was given a meal and some clothing and later handed over to the Criminal Investigations Department of the Royal St. Lucia Police Force (RSLPF).
The teenager had been reported missing in Martinique.
