(SNO) — Mayor of Castries Peterson Francis could very well be facing one of his councilors in a magistrate court this month over a charge of insulting language.

The incident, which was said to have occurred last May on the premises of the Castries Constituency Council (CCC), located on Peynier Street, according to court documents, has a member of the City Police Constabulary, Sergeant Yone Camchon as the complainant.

The charge is brought against Councilor Victor Maurice, a long-serving member of the Council’s executive.

Maurice’s service to the Council is not just as a councilor in this administration, and at other times when the administration was in office, but also as a former town clerk.

Court documents affirmed that the incident occurred at about 12:45 on the afternoon of May 23 and that the language used by Maurice was directed at Mayor Francis.

Maurice is charged under Section 534 of the Criminal Code Chapter 3.01 of the revised laws of Saint Lucia, 2013.

He was summoned to appear before the District Court sitting at Gros Islet on November 15.
