(SNO) — A law enforcement official has confirmed that an inmate sustained chop wounds at the hands of another inmate at the Bordelais Correctional Facility on Tuesday, January 7, 2020.
The inmate, Francis Bertie, was treated for wounds to his shoulder and leg at Victoria Hospital. He is in stable condition, according to reports.
The incident occurred in the Delta Unit, the maximum security section of the prison, in the morning, the official said.
A makeshift wooden weapon was used in the attack, the official said.
Prison authorities are reportedly investigating the incident.
