A Bagatelle, Castries woman is currently nursing stab wounds at Victoria Hospital following an attack in Castries at about 6 pm today.
A relative who witnessed the incident told St. Lucia News Online (SNO) that the victim, who is her cousin, was walking with her two children along with other family members and their children, when she was suddenly attacked by a knife-wielding woman who punched her in the face before stabbing her on the cheek and under her arm.
The attacker then fled in a vehicle.
Family members said they are appalled that the attacker carried out such a vicious attack in the presence of the children.
The injuries to the mother are not life-threatening. No one has been arrested.
The attack comes as Lucian Carnival 2013 Parade in Castries came to an end this evening.
SNO has received reports of other fights and attacks. However, we have no details on those incidents.
