The four-month-old baby girl who was stabbed by her father in a hostage stand-off on Monday, (Dec. 29), is expected to be released from the Victoria Hospital tomorrow.
The infant’s mother, Camille Leonce, told St. Lucia News Online (SNO) today that her baby, Paris Leonce, is recovering well, but still has a slight fever.
The mother was told by doctors that they will keep the baby for another 24 hours before she is released. Baby Paris sustained three lacerations to the elbow, back and right side.
She had officially turned four months on the same day she was stabbed.
On Wednesday, the infant’s father, 26-year-old Kevin Edward, aka Tumpy, of Bishop’s Gap, Castries was charged with attempted murder.
He was denied bail and remanded in custody at Bordelais prison until January 22, 2015 when he is due to reappear in court.
Relatives claim Edward suffers from mental illness. The prosecution recommended that the accused undergo psychiatric evaluation.
