A Desruisseaux man who was arrested after he was allegedly “caught in the act” with a goat on Friday last, has been released from police custody.
Police press officials told St. Lucia News Online (SNO) that the man was released today. However, the matter is still being investigated.
A police source also confirmed that the animal was taken to a vet, where it was examined and semen extracted. It is alleged that the owner of the goat was advised to “put the animal down” (kill it), according to a source.
The accused is 50 years old and is said to be mentally unstable.
If sufficient evidence is gathered, the man could be charged with bestiality or indecent exposure. He was reportedly caught naked with the animal in bushes near the complainant’s home.
“The owner of the goat took the pic, went to the cops, who came to apprehend him, still in the act,” a resident from the community told SNO, adding that this is not the first time the man was caught in such a manner with an animal. The resident said the man is “mentally unstable”.
This is not the first time a man has been arrested for such an allegation. In late October 2013, police confirmed that a young man was arrested for having sex with a sheep in Bexon.
The man, believed to be in his early 20′s, faced a charge of bestiality. Reports on SNO at the time stated that the police was scheduled to collect fluid from the sheep to test for semen.
