Police Commissioner Vernon Francois

Police Commissioner Vernon Francois has said the police force is beginning to see the rewards in developing and maintaining a security vetting system for all officers.

A main component of the system is polygraph testing or lie detector test, which officers in sensitive departments and the top brass of the force are required to take.

Francois said in time all officers will be required to take the test.

Polygraph testing, he said, provides a level of comfort to the public that the police are being held accountable in various forms.

The commissioner, speaking at a press briefing Wednesday, admitted that undergoing his lie detector test, he came clean about his own experimentation with an illicit drug.
