Two Guadeloupian and a Vincentian national are now in police custody following the interception of a boat with drugs yesterday, Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at about 5:45 p.m.
The French vessel, “Pelagie” was intercepted by the Police Marine Unit about 11 nautical miles off Gros Piton, Soufriere within the territorial waters of Saint Lucia, a police press release stated.
Officers recovered about 27 packages of compressed, dry green plant materials suspected to be cannabis, the release stated.
“The packages, occupants and vessel were escorted to the Marine Unit. Subsequently, the men were arrested and taken into custody for drug-related offences. The men are expected to be charged later,” the release added.
