Officers attached to the Marine Unit reported intercepting a vessel with a quantity of cocaine about 2:25 p.m. yesterday.
The interception occurred approximately three nautical miles off Pigeon Island, Gros Islet, within the territorial waters of Saint Lucia.
The vessel named “Mari Posa” was boarded and searched and approximately 75 kilograms of cocaine were discovered in a hidden compartment.
At the time of the interception, there were two individuals on board, one from Venezuela and the other a Dominican national.
The individuals were arrested and taken into custody for drug-related offences.
Charges are expected to be laid against them at a later date.
