Shanice Emmanuel was reportedly seen by two women walking on a bridge in San Souci, Castries about 5:00 am.

The family is now trying to find out how and why Shanice left the house.

EARLIER REPORT: 11-year-old missing

A search is now underway for an 11-year-old girl who went missing from her home in Marchand, Castries in the wee hours of this morning.

Rusina Emmanuel told St. Lucia News Online that she last made contact with her daughter, Shanice Emmanuel, about 4:00 this morning.

Emmanuel said she was resting on a sofa when she saw the lights on in her daughter’s room. She said is not unusual for her daughter to use the bathroom at odd hours.

“I asked her where she was going. She told me she was changing her clothes because it (night gown) is too big. I said ‘okay’ and I turn around and fell asleep. I got up about 6:30 and I haven’t seen her since,” the distraught mother told St. Lucia News Online.

The family is unable to say what Shanice was last wearing.

According to the mother, her missing daughter shares a bed with her nine-year-old sister, who has no idea where her sibling went either.

Emmanuel described her daughter as a quiet girl who did not show any signs she was troubled. She does not believe her daughter, a student of the Carmen Rene Memorial School, ran away.

She said the girl’s father, who lives in Cacao, Babonneau, does not know where Shanice is either and has joined the search for their daughter.

The matter has been reported to the police.
