Police are investigating the death of a man, whose body was recovered from waters in Barcardere, Vieux-Fort Saturday afternoon.
The man, nicknamed Yellow, is known to wash vehicles in the vicinity of Vieux-Fort square.
Unofficial reports reaching our newsroom are that Yellow was hit in the head with a rock as he attempted to seek refuge in the water from his attacker.
His body was recovered about 3 pm from the Dengue (pronounced dang-gay) – a local unofficial name for the remnants of the Vieux Fort river after it was diverted.
An autopsy will reveal the cause of death but police will continue to investigate.
St. Lucia News Online will provide more information as soon as it becomes available.
