Embert Eugene

A long-standing feud between two families – living next door to each other – in Rockhall, Castries turned deadly Friday night, Jan. 17 after several altercations the same evening.

Embert Eugene aka Cow Back was shot multiple times by Mitch Alcide aka Mad Ras, who was subsequently shot by a police officer at around 11:15 pm.

Reports are that the officer is a resident of Rockhall and relative of Alcide.

Following interviews with members of the Eugene and Alcide families on Saturday morning, St. Lucia News Online (SNO) discovered that both sides have been at loggerheads for over 10 years.

Monica Alcide, mother of Mitch, said last night’s bloodshed stemmed from an earlier altercation between her other son, Wendell, and Kurt Eugene, who is described by both families as mentally unstable.

During the fight, Wendell sustained a cutlass wound to the right hand while Kurt was taken to the Wellness Centre by the police.

Monica said Kurt has always threatened to kill Wendell and other members of her family. She said the police has had to intervene on many occasions in the feud between her family and their neighbours .

Meanwhile, Lucy Ann Eugene, mother of shooting victim Embert, said she and Monica were friends. She said the relation deteriorated over the years because Monica owes her $2,000 and refuses to pay – a claim Monica denies.

Mitch Alcide was shot by a police officer.

Lucy Ann said Monica is using her son’s (Kurt) mental problem as an excuse to paint her family as the troublemakers.

St. Lucia News Online understands that following the altercation between Wendell and Kurt Friday night, a second incident erupted between brothers of both families in which stones were thrown.

The police officer reportedly intervened. It was sometime during this time that Embert was gunned down by Mitch, who reportedly appeared from nowhere. Reports are that Mitch was called by a family member about the escalating war that night.

The Eugene family claimed that Embert was not directly involved in the Friday night incidents and was never a troublemaker.

They however admit that Embert and Mitch had a history of problems.
