Five men have been arrested for allegedly attempting to steal scooters at the Police Marine Unit in the wee hours of this morning.
Police say the men unlawfully gaining entry into their marine base by cutting into the fence about 2:45 a.m on Friday, February 21.
The scooters in question had been seized by the police.
According to the police, the men were confronted by officers of the Marine Unit, and during the confrontation and apprehension three of the men sustained gunshot wounds.
The injured men were transported to Victoria Hospital on ambulance. They are reportedly in stable condition at the hospital. The other two are in police custody. It is believed their ages range from 17 to 24.
Police say the men will be charged and taken before the court at a later date, as police investigations continue into that incident.
