Reports coming out of the neighbouring Martinique are that one of its two nationals who went missing after they set sail 24 days ago for Saint Lucia from Martinique, has been found – alive.
However, there have been conflicting reports from media houses on the French island about the number of persons found on the boat.
According to France-Antilles, the vessel ‘Loyalty’ that transported Christophe Quimper, aka Bato, 43, and Ismael Nemorin, aka Ti Costo, 26, was found yesterday morning by cruise ship ‘Adventure of the Seas’, about 800 kilometres west of Martinique.
The report states that Nemorin was “dehydrated but safe and sound”, while investigations are continuing investigations to determine the identity of two occupants who were found “unharmed” on the same vessel.
France-Antilles provided no further information.
Martinique 1 Radio reported a somewhat different story, stating that one of the two men, Nemorin was found alive Monday morning but “for the other person who was on the boat investigations are in progress”.
The media house also reported that “it was thanks to calls from rescuers from Cross Antilles-Guyana that the captain of a cruise ship saw the boat drifting with two people”.
“According to preliminary reports, the 9-meter-long boat was the victim of a gasoline failure,” the Martinique 1st report added.
Earlier Monday, St. Lucia News Online received reports from Martinique that the two men were discovered, but one is deceased. However, this has not been officially confirmed as yet.
The two men reportedly set sail for Saint Lucia on May 19, but were not heard of since.
Missing posters of the men had been circulating on social media for weeks.
