(SNO) – Former Calypso Monarch Herman ‘Ashanti’ Hippolyte has been missing since last Friday, June 15, 2018, according to relatives and information circulating on social media.
“I need help in finding my father. He has been missing since Friday. If anyone find him, please contact me as soon as possible,” states a post containing a photo of Ashanti and a female.
Reports are that Ashanti told a family member on Friday that he was held by police for urinating in public. A person claiming to be the cousin of the calypsonian told St. Lucia News Online that the family fears that criminals may have kidnapped him for debts owed by his son who sells in the market.
When our newsroom contacted the police on Tuesday afternoon regarding these reports, a press officer said they are checking various police stations to ascertain if any missing person report concerning the artiste was lodged.
