The slain driver attached to the government’s Statistics Department had an altercation with the killer, investigations have revealed.
Eyewitnesses told St Lucia News Online (SNO) that they saw the driver, 39-year-old Lucius Laporte aka Marcus of New Village, Castries pulled brakes at the Anse Ger gap (he was northbound), came out of his vehicle and approached a man.
Laporte and the man started to exchange words. Soon after, the man (killer) reportedly pulled out pulled out a scissors and started pointing it at the driver. The two started a scuffle. They ended up over the road and the attacker started stabbing him.
According to the eyewitnesses, Laporte was stabbed by the same man in a previous confrontation. The attacker had served a jail sentence for the crime.
A food vendor, who also witnessed the stabbing, said she was too afraid to watch.
She told SNO she ran for cover from the stones that were being pelted by the driver.
