PRESS RELEASE - About 6:20 a.m. on Sunday, September 7, 2014, a police officer was driving his vehicle along the Mon Repos Highway when he sighted a male suspect wanted by the police.
The officer stopped his vehicle and proceeded towards the suspect who attempted to evade him by running into the nearby bushes. The officer gave chase and caught up with the suspect. He resisted arrest and physically assaulted the officer as well as attempted to disarm him.
During such time, a female officer came to his aid. The suspect kept on fighting with the officers at which point, the male officer discharged one round of ammunition at the suspect hitting him in the leg. He was transported to St. Jude’s hospital where he was treated and admitted.
The 40-year-old suspect of Mon Repos, was wanted by police for numerous offences ranging from Possession of Fraudulent Documents to Stealing.
He is expected to be charged shortly.
