A local businessman and his son who were charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition last week have been bailed.
A police release states that Davidson Ernest, proprietor of Ernesco Inc in Cul De Sac, Castries was arrested along with his son Travis Davidson Ernest following a warranted police search on his premises on August 6, 2013.
The search was conducted by officers from the Major Crimes Unit and the Criminal Investigations Department. During the raid, police said they found a 9mm pistol and eight rounds of 9mm ammunition in an office belonging to the defendants, the press release states.
They were subsequently charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.
They appeared before the First District Court in Castries on Wednesday August 7, 2013, where they were bail in the sum of $5,000 on the firearm charge and $2,000 for the alleged ammunition offense.
The matter was adjourned to August 23, 2013.
