The stolen truck

A stolen motor vehicle was discovered on a banana plantation, near a gas station, in Odsan, Castries this morning at about 7:30.

The white Suzuki Cari mini-truck/pick-up, with the registration number PE5699,was discovered intact. The ignition switch is missing.

A source told St. Lucia News Online (SNO) that the vehicle was not seen in that area on Sunday.

The recovered vehicle matches the description of a vehicle (PE5699) that was missing from the yard of Advertising & Marketing Services in La Clery in the early hours of Monday, January 5.

There have been a number of recent reports about vehicles being stolen in different parts of the island. Investigators have told SNO that stolen vehicles are mainly used for crime, particularly shootings, kidnappings and transportation of illegal drugs. Vehicles are also scrapped for parts.
