A search is currently underway for an eight-year-old girl who went missing in Soufriere after she was sent on an errand.

Kershelle James was last seen on Saturday, Jan. 3 at about 10 a.m. She was last seen wearing a blue and white striped skirt, yellow and orange top, and pink slippers. She is about three feet tall and of dark complexion.

Michella Octave told St. Lucia News Online (SNO) that her sister, who lives with her, left her daughter (Kershelle) in her care to travel to Castries.

Octave said she had to go to Vieux Fort, so she brought Kershelle to her other sister’s home on Sir Arthur Lewis Street in Soufriere town.

Octave further stated that at around 1 p.m. she received the frightening call from her sister, who told her that the child did not return home after she was sent to deliver a message to her godmother next door.

The distraught aunt said the godmother confirmed that the child delivered the message and left. However, efforts to locate her have been unsuccessful so far.

Octave said it is not unusual for the child to be sent on errands nearby.

Persons are asked to call the Soufriere Police Station at 456-3620 if they have seen Kershelle or know of her whereabouts.
