A Jamaican national with Canadian citizenship is appearing in the First District Court in Gros Islet today, Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013 in connection with the discovery of cocaine in a guest house earlier this week.
A police press release states that 34-year-old Dwally Everlee Moranc, who is vacationing in Saint Lucia, was arrested and charged with the possession of a controlled drug and possession with the intent to supply a controlled drug.
Police reports that at about 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 16, 2013, officers attached to the Gros Islet Police Station responded to reports of a burglary at Corinth Estate, Gros Islet. Whilst there, the release said investigations led the officers to a guest house in the area.
During an interview with a male guest occupying a room at the establishment, the officers noticed suspicious looking packages on the floor.
The officers recovered 70 small packages of what appeared to be cocaine from the room.
The guest was later identified as Moranc who was then arrested and taken into custody.
