Three men who appeared before the First District Court in Castries today, in connection with the shooting death of George Montoute of Hospital Road, Castries, were remanded into custody.
The incident occurred on Saturday, June 1 at Hospital Road.
On Friday, officers attached to the Major Crimes Unit proffered charges against 43-year-old Junior Cherubin also known as ‘Ragga’ of Morne Fortune, Castries for the offence of aiding and abetting the offence of murder.
In addition, 18-year-old Ted Leriche and 22-year-old Amadeus Clifford Leon, both of Hospital Road, were charged for murder.
All three individuals were remanded to the Bordelais Correctional Facility until November 28.
Police said Montoute, aka Caught Up, succumbed to a gunshot wound at Victoria Hospital on Sunday, June 2, 2013.
According to a police press release, on Saturday, June 1, 2013, at about 8:37 pm, Criminal Investigations Department officers responded to a shooting incident report at Hospital Road.
“The officers immediately proceeded to the scene of the alleged incident. Upon arrival they observed a male individual lying on his right side, covered in blood. He appeared to have sustained a gunshot wound to the lower torso. That individual was identified as 45-year-old George Montoute, also known as Caught Up of Hospital Road, Castries. Montoute was transported to Victoria Hospital where he was treated and admitted. On Sunday, June 2, 2013, George Montoute succumbed to his injury whilst at Victoria Hospital,” the press release added.
