Taiwanese Ambassador to Saint Lucia Ray Mou has given a commitment to assist the Castries City Council (CCC) with setting up CCTV cameras along the streets of the capital to help reduce crime.
During a courtesy call on City Mayor Peterson Francis on Thursday, Mou said he would like to work more closely with Castries, especially in the area of crime and security, and the environment.
The Taiwanese ambassador also disclosed plans to facilitate training for police officers, explaining that the Taiwan Police University offers several intense training programmes.
Mou said he would also like to work with the CCC in helping to keep the city clean.
Taiwan has assisted in a few environmental initiatives in the past.
