A 27-year-old St. Lucian man is facing a murder charge in Canada, in connection with the stabbing death of a Canadian man.
Nathan Joseph of Vieux Fort is charged with second degree murder and two counts of aggravated assault of 29-year-old Dustin Boulet of Saskatoon, Canada. Estevan Fuenzalida, 24, is also charged with being an accessory to the murder and assaults.
They appeared at a Saskatoon courtroom on March 7, 2014.
Saskatoon’s CTV News reported that Boulet was stabbed while trying to breakup a fight, outside a west side Saskatoon bar on March 1. He was out celebrating his 29th birthday.
“We’re gonna get justice. One way or another there’s gonna be justice done for my brother,” Boulet’s brother, Chad told Canadian reporters outside of the court.
“It’s a tragedy what happened. A young man lost his life. It’s senseless,” a friend of the victim noted.
Boulet was laid to rest on Sunday, March 9.
A bail hearing for the murder accused has been adjourned for a later date. Fuenzalida is expected to appear in Saskatoon Court of Queen’s Bench on March 11, 2014, while Joseph will appear in Provincial Court on March 31.
Joseph’s friend, Seku Kamara, in expressing surprise about the situation, said Joseph was “a charismatic individual and a happy go lucky type of person.”
